Situated just eight minutes from our Mockingbird apartments, the AT&T Performing Arts Center fosters creativity throughout our community. The center houses several resident companies known for their unforgettable performances.

Highlights include:

Dallas Opera

Founded in 1957, the Dallas Opera brings some of opera’s biggest stars to north Texas. Over the years, it has played a significant role in shaping the city’s national/international cultural reputation. The company commits to excellence and has performed both American and world premieres. Audiences can watch the Dallas Opera at the center’s Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, designed specifically for the presentation of opera and musical theater. The shows often sell out, so book in advance. 

Texas Ballet Theater

For over 50 years, the Texas Ballet Theater has set the tone for artistic excellence in ballet productions. The internationally recognized company’s performances range from classic to cutting edge. It features dozens of dancers, including Texas native, Katelyn Clenaghan. Raised in Weatherford, she trained at schools in the Fort Worth area before earning a traineeship with the Texas Ballet Theater. Katelyn is in her 17th season, and her favorite performances to date are Dracula and Cinderella. In 2020, the ballet will perform several shows, including Crush/Firebird, Image/Imbue/Bartok, and a Midsummer Night’s Dream

Dallas Black Dance Theatre 

Since 1976, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre has reached diverse audiences through modern dance. The company has performed for four million arts patrons and over two million children worldwide. Its mission is to produce contemporary shows, and the dancers also perform ballet, jazz, and ethnic works. Upcoming shows include Dancing Beyond Borders and DBDT: Rising Excellence.
