With a variety of nearby museums, The Lofts at Mockingbird Station is a great place to live and learn. Even with many great nearby museums, though, we understand that sometimes it’s hard to physically visit these great local places. Luckily several local museums offer online resources that you can enjoy from our Dallas apartments.
Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a must for any science lover. Check out the Amaze Your Brain section. Through videos and other media, you can learn interesting facts about the natural world, such as organisms that live in harsh environments, finding fossil shells, and discovering your center of mass. You can also learn a little more about some of the museum’s exhibits and learn an assortment of Amazing Facts on the museum’s website.
The Sixth Floor Museum
Dedicated mostly to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Sixth Floor Museum is located at the assassination’s primary crime scene. You can look at some of the online collections. They include photographs and memorabilia related to JFK, as well as pictures of items related to the Cuban missile crisis and other political events of the 1960s. If you get the chance, check out Shared Memories where people have shared their own memories of the day that JFK died.
The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum
The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum offers an important look at history. Check out the virtual tour of the museum’s current special exhibit, The Fight for Civil Rights in the South. You can click on individual photographs and artifacts and even read plaques located throughout the exhibit.
With the Beyond Tolerance Theater, you ou can participate in a seven-day bias cleanse or take a Project Implicit quiz where you will learn about potential biases you have.
While you explore these Dallas museums, sip on a glass of wine from a local wine shop.Back to all posts
