June is here! There is no better time to enjoy nature walks, BBQ, and a brew or two in our beautiful local parks. Here are several great nearby parks to enjoy with picnics and pals. Make some summer memories with these parks around the corner from our apartments in Dallas, TX

Glencoe Park

Glencoe Park is a green space gem and only a few minutes south of our community. They have trails for joggers, baseball diamonds, and wide-open spaces for soccer and football. You can bring your racquets for a set of tennis or pick up a picnic and soak up the sun. It’s the perfect weeknight getaway—especially if you grab some takeout from one of these local eateries on your way over.

White Rock Lake Park

White Rock Lake Park is popular especially among cyclists in the Dallas area for its lake loop. But cycling isn’t all there is to do. They have a couple of quiet bird-watching spots with considerable avian activity at dawn and dusk. This park is also an excellent spot for picnicking. You can’t take a bad selfie with such a beautiful lake. And it’s a hip-and-happening spot, with farmers markets and live music most weekends. Check out local artists’ exhibits at the Bath House Cultural Center off Lawther Dr. Or follow our community on Instagram @loftsatmockingbird to keep up with the latest events.

Cedar Hill State Park

When they say things are bigger in Texas, that includes the state parks. Cedar Hill State Park is a sprawling complex with 1,800 acres for boating, fishing, biking, and hiking galore. It’s perfect for spending long summer days in the great outdoors, especially for more rugged, rough-and-tumble folks. Learn more about Dallas’s farming past at the Penn Farm Agricultural History Center. Hike along the lake, and keep your eyes peeled for nesting shorebirds like green herons. Should you indulge in a bit of fishing, Texas Parks and Wildlife would ask that you have your license in order before baiting your hooks. And the lake, bathed in the glow of sunset, is begging to be photographed. All this and more is just a half-hour drive southwest of our Dallas apartments.
